Baybay City, Leyte – Indie duo-band called “Reon” emerged as the winner of Philpop 2020 on Sunday, December 20, 2020 held via Zoom and Facebook live on the official page of Philpop.
Viscan singer song-writer Noah Glynn Alejandre together with his partner Reanne Julia Borela won the competition with their original song entitled “Suyo”. The duo bagged the Smart People’s Choice award in the Visayas Cluster and taking home the grand prize of P1 million tax-free as they bested 15 other finalists from different regional clusters all over the country.
Noah Alejandre is currently a junior Bachelor of Science in Computer Science student and a graphic artist of Amaranth, the official student publication of VSU while Reanne Borela is a freshman Fine Arts student from the University of San Carlos (USC).
The first runner up award went to Aikee with song “Bestiny” while Sherwin Fugoso came in as the second runner up for his song “Pahuway”.
The competition was judged by renowned people in the music industry such as the likes of Festival Chair National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab and PhilPop Musicfest Foundation board member Noel Cabangon.
Philpop is an annual songwriting competition in the country that aims to bud local artists from all over the regions to produce high quality original pinoy music (opm).
This year’s competition was exclusively held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
